Internet and network marketing: Pay-per-click
We spoke about pay-per-click in prior posts.
Pay-per-click can be very effective but can be very expensive if done inappropriately.
What is the difference between overture and Google adwords (the two major pay-per-click internet search engines)?
With Overture: You are placed on the first page when you pay more, even though your advertisement is completely irrelevant. You pay, you get higher placement.
Google adwords: is different, Google measures your ad performance. If your ad is getting higher clicks, that means your ad is targeted, you actually pay less even though you are on the same page of people who are paying more!
Actually, Google adwords can punish you, and turn off your ads if you are not getting clicks. Google interpret this as an irrelevant ad for their readers.
What is the take home lesson with Google adwords?
Target your ad in a smart way, and get rewarded by Google adwords.
When you target your ad, your conversion rate will increase and overall you get more leads for less
The best wayto target your ad is to check overture inventory for the keywords searched and adjust your ad according to these keywords.
The best thing to do is make a different ad for each keyword. It’s more work but after all it is your money. Are you gifting it to Google or paying Google?
Another trick to increase you click-through is to use Capital letters for the first letter in each word of the headline, it makes a major difference.
Let’s suppose you are selling cat food:
Your ad headline should be: “Looking for Cat Food?” instead of: “looking for cat food”.
This way, the words cat food will be highlighted; it is matching with the keywords, and it will attract attention. Obviously, your lead capture page should talk about cat food not dog food.
One more thing, make sure when you advertise online with pay-per-click that you define the geographic area of advertising. Do not advertise worldwide unless your network marketing company is open worldwide.
